Tell us a little about yourself!

I am Kanika Bhatia, a second year student of Christ University, pursuing BBA Hons.

How did volunteering with Bhumi happen?

I started in June 2018 with an orientation, upnext came Nakshatra got involved with its planning and meetings following which i started going to lakshya classes, attended citycon which gave me a better picture of how i can position myself better in Bhumi .Going forward i was given an opportunity to coordinate Daan Utsav that was a great success . The sound of fecilitation was heard by other project coordinators and they gave me the chance to enhance my coordinating experience in Bhumi India Run.

Share your experience in the ‘Ride for a Cause’ event that you have been actively participating in.

I have been participating in riding for cause that has made my journey exciting that began with a child that didnt know how to ride cycle and ending up to driving 30 kms cycle and creating awareness by doing nukkad natak in vittsandra village , painting anganwadi, taking a survey to create a better living for those people.

What change did these experiences bring in your life? How has Bhumi altered you, personally?

My motive and personality completely changed with passing months in Bhumi, i have had an amazing experience learning from my mentors and co volunteers. I make sure that i show maximum participation in all bhumi project events to get to know people ,learn from my mistakes, take a feedback of how things can go better and I definitely aim towards being a Better Human Being , a big chunk of which goes to Bhumi for transforming this student from volunteer to coordinator and aspiring to be an inspirational leader in future.

Tell us about one Bhumian, who has been an inspiration.

Inspiration is a word to small to define the enthusiastic volunteers of Bhumi who have decided with their committed efforts together as a team to bring a change in society and a create a better living for people around. When I witnessed Bhumi Awards i was a fresh volunteer and with passing awards the motivation in me increased as to how an individual can be transformed as a star in an organisation with an overall personality such that you proudly announce “I AM A BHUMIAN “.

For me who proved inspiration not only to be a 6 letter word but where each alphabet defined how a volunteer should be, how things should be done was when i heard Mr Chenthil Kumar name being announced as Torch Bearer of Bhumi, the amount of respect i gained for that person increased double folds when i got to know the person by others and how he dedicatedly proved to be an inspirational leader .

Any specific, special moment with kids or volunteers you would like to share with us.

Till now i have been finding a reason to be happy ;after joing Bhumi when i met kids and they called me akka the grin on my face gave me a satisfaction so immense that making kids smile became a reason of my smile.

A message to every volunteer at Bhumi:

“Together we stand united and strong”
