Volunteer Den – Shruti Gorivale

Tell us a little about yourself!

I am a Pharmacist. I love watching cartoons, listening to music, dancing and drawing.

How did volunteering with Bhumi happen? (including beginning, which project you volunteered for?)

My journey with Bhumi started in 2016. One of my friend volunteering with Bhumi introduced me to this. I first volunteered for Nakshatra and later joined LES (Science). Now play the role of HR Coordinator for Lakshya (Mentoring).

What change did these experiences bring in your life? How has Bhumi altered you, personally?

Bhumi brought many changes in my life; I was once a complete introvert and now I find myself changed. Volunteering helped me evolve capability of making decisions. It has helped in building interpersonal skills and definitely made me much a confident person.

One most memorable incident in your life as a Bhumian:

There are lots of memorable moment, one of them was when Satheesh, took feedback from children and the kids wrote that I was good, addressing me as their sister. And another moment is during the EYA session the kids themselves asked us that will you be coming to teach us again.

Tell us about one Bhumian, who has been an inspiration:

Sumit Singh, previous year’s PR and FR Coordinator, has been a good inspiration to me. The energy with which he worked during Nakshatra and the bonding he used to maintain within the volunteers and the kids really moved me.

Any specific, special moment with kids or volunteers you would like to share with us?

Nakshatra is one of the most memorable days in my life. I was the cultural coordinator and I always used to be around the stage. The cheerful smiles after every performance made my day worth.

A message to every volunteer at Bhumi:

A combination of hard work, passion, honesty and determination can make things which seems difficult and impossible to you, very easily possible.
