25 Sep Honouring teachers for co-travelling!
Did you ever have the courage? Did you ever have the confidence? Did you ever have the belief to succeed? These were not inherent traits in us but were sown by our teachers who had the belief and confidence in us. They not only teach us but lead us from darkness to light. Having said that it is important that we take some time to show our gratitude to them, to understand the importance of their role in our lives, to thank them.
September 5, the birth anniversary of Dr. Radhakrishnan, is celebrated as Teacher’s Day throughout India. This day was conferred as teacher’s day on his request to honor teachers for their service.
Bhumi’s School Transformation Program in Chennai works for the holistic development of children at 15 schools. The facilitators had a wide range of activities planned out to celebrate this day with their teachers! From cultural like dance shows, music performances, skits, video compilations done by the students for their teachers to students conducting quiz competitions, creative games, speeches and much more.
Although every school had a unique way of celebrating their teachers, the atmosphere was uniformly euphoric. The vibe was very positive with a celebratory and a high energy mood pervading every inch of the school. With great love, the students distributed gifts and greeting cards to their teachers and thanked them for their contribution, motivating the teachers to continue their good work.
The facilitators were focussed on bringing a feeling of gratitude between students and teachers to each other as without teachers, a student’s journey is not complete; likewise, without a student, a teacher’s work would not be complete. We were successful in bringing this feeling amongst both parties in all our schools. Now, we look to integrating such practices in our daily routine to make these ties stronger.
Bhumi as a token of appreciation presented every teacher with a badge. The teachers were humbled by the positive gesture and wore it with great pride. They clicked photos, laughed loud and smiled deep. They went back home with memories to cherish a lifetime.
