Nakshatra Online: Creativity amidst Crisis

Nakshatra Online: Creativity amidst Crisis

Travail to Triumph! A Beam of Delight for Children from Shelter Homes to exhibit their flair during the COVID Pandemic Lockdown.

The tough and testing times always have us on tip-toes in general to focus on activities and creativity that brings us a sense of excitement and peace. From young to old, it’s been hard to be confined in our respective homes and grapple with the social distancing, online schooling, work from home, no socializing or hanging out with friends etc. Nevertheless, the best thing about creativity is that you can adapt and accomplish it anywhere, anytime!

Bhumi’s Volunteers have always been optimists! Opportunity favours the bold and is never limited! Amidst the pandemic, the volunteers turned the distress to delight by initiating a fun filled virtual event called Nakshatra Online, a festival of recognizing talents through arts and activities conducted via Zoom to engage the children.

This  unprecedented situation has given us a new hope and helped us impact beneficiaries from a wide spread of locations via online which was earlier limited, when the programme was delivered offline.

2,052 Children from 714 Shelter Homes participated in the virtual event across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Assam, Haryana, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Mizoram, Odisha, Gujarat, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi NCR, Manipur and Nagaland supported by 600 Volunteers.

Events such as Storytelling, Fancy Dress, Mono-acting, Master of Memory & Tongue Twisters – “How many snacks could a snack stacker stack, if a snack stacker snacked stacked snacks?”, Voice of Nakshatra, Fast & Curious, Laugh out Loud – Who doesn’t love a joke? Skit Workshop – “The world is a stage and theatre is an art of looking at ourselves”; Block & Tackle (Talk for/against with a given topic) were conducted.

It’s exhilarating to witness the passion from the volunteers who have been executing the end-to-end virtual event and are set to conduct more large-scale events in the near future for which the children are prepping just as hard!

“It’s not just about Creativity. It’s about the person you’re becoming while creating.”
