11 May Online Volunteer Meet- Corona diaries!
There is no easy way out of the virus, which has already had devastating consequences on people all over the world, and may get much worse in the months ahead.
But if there is a silver lining in this crisis, it may be that the virus is forcing us to use the internet in ways it was always meant to be used — to connect with one another, share information and resources, and come up with collective solutions to urgent problems.
Team Kanini (Computer Project), Kolkata conducted its first online All-Volunteers Meet on 2nd May, 2020. The project coordinators invited all the support team members and the teaching volunteers to attend this meet.
The meet began with a good attendance of around 30 people. We welcomed all with an icebreaker, where all the attendees had to supplement their introduction with a hilarious life incident, and that opened up a Pandora’s box of laughter and joy!
Along with being a part of this meet, some volunteers helped us to arrange the presentation and decide on games.
Speaking of games, the volunteers were divided into 5 groups – the groups were named with different computer parts like Floppy Disk & Graphic Card.
We played four different games:
1) Guess the song from a mute video: And voila! we discovered so many talented singers in the team!
2) Describe the Bhumi event without actually taking its name: Some really innovative descriptions, leaving us all in splits.
3) Rapid fire with GK Questions: Did you know that Baby Giraffes mooed?
4) Tongue Twisters: Lot of tongue slips and funny renditions!
Each game was also given a fun Hindi name like – Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Kaisi Jeebh Lap Lapayi etc. This whole session had intermittent breaks where we discussed the road map for our project and different action plans.
The session ended on a happy note with appreciation for our most driven volunteers in the form of Caught ya cards!
Cherry on the cake being the beautiful thank you cards we sent out to the support team members for attending and encouraging us!
We are happy that even amidst this whole pandemic situation, we were able to bring some smiles on the faces of our volunteers and appreciate their hard work.
