In India, the circumstances we are born into predicts the kind of future we will experience. The division in the education system impacts a student’s ability to achieve learning objectives and undertake higher education. Our education system was not designed to enable all students to reach their full potential or create a future of their dreams.
The Right to Education (RTE) Act describes the importance of free education to underprivileged children between the age of 6 and 14. Section 12(1)C guarantees a 25% reservation for children from backward and economically disadvantaged sections of the society in private schools.
Of the estimated 20 lakh free seats available each year, only 20% is being utilized. The reason being, a lack of awareness about RTE among the underprivileged communities.
We plan to tackle this problem by engaging our volunteers in creating awareness among these communities and helping them benefit from this transformational opportunity.
