Tell us a little about yourself!
I work in Wipro as a test engineer and I am also pursuing M.Tech. I love playing cricket for my office team.
How did volunteering with Bhumi happen? (Including beginning, which project you volunteered for)?
I joined as a volunteer for Ignite programme (de Step). I take dance classes on Saturdays for children. With time, I also started volunteering for Catalyse initiatives. Currently I am involved with Riding for a Cause, in addition to my Ignite volunteering.
Share your experience in the ‘Ride for a Cause’ event that you have been actively participating in.
It was a Seed ball campaign in Turhalli forest. I loved the fact that we are doing something helpful to the nature. To grow more trees and a little hand in afforestation, the first ever ride under ‘Riding for a Cause’ event for such a memorable one.
What change did these experiences bring in your life? How has Bhumi altered you, personally?
I learnt to be more patient. I also realised the happiness and satisfaction when I teach the kids – to me that’s the best feeling.
Tell us about one Bhumian, who has been an inspiration.
Hanika is one volunteer whom I look up to. She excellently manages the team and is very active when it comes to any event.
Any specific, special moment with kids or volunteers you would like to share with us?
There are 2 actually, one is the whole Nakshatra experience.
And the second is, one child from my class gave a chocolate to me saying it’s his birthday. He said he has been saving this chocolate for 2 days to give to me, because he likes me the most. To earn such pure love is a bliss! What more motivation one needs than such bond.
A message to every volunteer at Bhumi:
Together we rise. Let us all volunteer for some cause we like and believe in. Change happens only if we take a step towards it.
