Tell us a little about yourself!
I am an M.Sc graduate from Kalpakkam volunteering in RTE with Bhumi. My intention is to spread awareness on RTE so that people can benefit from the act and educate their children.
How did volunteering with Bhumi happen?
I was always interested in Social service. I registered as a volunteer in Bhumi during my college days. I have been associated with RTE since I joined Bhumi as a volunteer.
Share your experience in the RTE campaigns/event that you have been actively participating in.
I visited an urban slum near Shollinganallur during my first field campaign. The struggles of that community shook me and gave me a reason to spread more awareness on RTE and I got completely involved in it. It was a unique experience in my life.
What change did these experiences bring in your life? How has Bhumi altered you, personally?
I was able to understand and experience the difficulties people face in their lives. I got the satisfaction of helping them take the first step towards a better future. Bhumi gave me that chance and I have tried to involve in more campaigns for RTE.
Tell us about one Bhumian, who has been an inspiration:
Hitesh is an active volunteer who works for the cause tirelessly and he has inspired me to do the same.
Any specific, special moment with kids or volunteers you would like to share with us?
One of my special moments was when parents received us with great enthusiasm and supported us with our work during our campaign. They were not educated or wealthy but they knew the art of hospitality.
A message to every volunteer at Bhumi:
If you are interested and involved, Bhumi will give you the platform a platform for some of the best opportunities and experiences which wiil nourish your life!
