Project in Bhumi: Lakshya

City/State: Trichy, Tamilnadu

Tell us a little about yourself!

I’m an engineering graduate. I’m a simple and easy going person who loves to watch cartoons, movies, play video games & sometimes football. Reading biographies, auto biographies and adventurous stories is my hobby. I like to travel and explore new places.

How did volunteering with Bhumi happen? (Including beginning, which project you volunteered for)?

I always wanted to do something to the society but I didn’t get a right path or guidance to do it. When my friend said about Bhumi during my pre-final year, I attended the orientation and felt amazed to see Bhumi’s work and their network throughout India. That was the moment I decided to involve myself as a Bhumi volunteer. I became a part of Lakshya as I felt it’s little away from academics. Currently I am the operations coordinator for Lakshya Trichy.

What change did these experiences bring in your life? How has Bhumi altered you, personally?

When I joined Bhumi I thought of changing the kids’ world but what really happened was I felt a tremendous change in myself. I should admit that I was a reserved person but the experience that I got from Bhumi has given me self development and boosted my self confidence. The exposure from Bhumi taught me that nothing is impossible in this world and that made my ambition much bigger than before.

One most memorable incident in your life as a Bhumian

I was a part of Nakshatra Trichy’17. It was my first Nakshatra experience. I was really stunned by to see the talent of the kids. The moment they received their prizes, the way the kids expressed their happiness, when they became very affectionate to me, I could still recall them all. It was an amazing experience. I would cherish the day in my heart forever.

Tell us about one Bhumian, who has been an inspiration

All Bhumians has made an impact on me. I would like to mention Ashath and Srini my senior volunteers who guided me to take over the sessions, never hesitated to help me in all possible ways. I’m thankful to all my co-volunteers who stood beside me at all times.

Any specific, special moment with kids or volunteers you would like to share with us?

I was a part of Joy to The World project last year in Trichy. It was a fantastic experience to fulfill the wishes of the kids. I felt really special when they thanked me with lots of smile on their faces. It was really a wonderful moment for me.
